Skagit Valley Tulips
$149. 15″ x 11″ watercolor on Arches 140 lb cold press paper. My watercolor meetup group painted at Roozengaard tulip farm on a rainy day during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The tulips lit up the landscape, so we hardly noticed the weather. Of course, being under a canopy helped.

Read MoreJack’s Dory
$149. Once a month, the Seattle Plein Air artists’ meetup group gets together at Fisherman’s Terminal in Seattle. One day I found this gem of a subject and sat right down on the dock to make a picture of it. A fisherman couldn’t believe it: ”Why d’ya want to paint Jack’s old dory when there are so many NICE boats around?!” My explanations were received with knitted brows until I finally said, “You know how artists are…” At that he nodded and continued on his way.
Read MoreCoupeville Barn
$149. Bill and I love to stay at the Lovejoy Inn in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. The proprietors, Linda and Mitch, are gracious and the accommodations are pleasant. While there we golf, hike, and eat lots of fabulous Penn Cove mussels. On the Lovejoy Inn grounds is this weather-beaten barn fronted by a group of camp chairs inviting one to sit down and enjoy the fresh salty air and relaxing atmosphere after an active day.
